Form 1 Mathematics — Term 3
About Course
Form 1 Mathematics — Term 3 is a structured mathematics course designed to help learners develop essential skills in Angles, Trigonometry and Statistics.
The course begins with Angles, where learners develop a strong understanding of different types of angles and the relationships between angles. Learners will study acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex angles, as well as adjacent, complementary, supplementary and vertically opposite angles. They will also explore angles around a point, angles in triangles and quadrilaterals, properties of isosceles and equilateral triangles, and angle relationships involving parallel lines and transversals. The topic concludes with applications involving angles of elevation and depression.
The course then introduces Trigonometry through Pythagoras’ Theorem, enabling learners to calculate unknown sides of right-angled triangles and apply the theorem to practical mathematical problems.
The final topic, Statistics, introduces learners to the collection, organisation, presentation and interpretation of data. Learners will study different methods of data collection and learn how to represent data using pie charts, bar charts, line graphs, compound bar graphs, tally charts, histograms and frequency polygons. They will also learn how to construct and interpret frequency tables and calculate measures of central tendency, including the mean, median and mode for both grouped and ungrouped data.
Through clear lessons, worked examples, guided practice, quizzes and assessments, learners will develop mathematical reasoning, accuracy, data-handling skills and confidence in solving practical problems.
Understand the relationships. Apply the methods. Interpret the results.
