Form 1 Mathematics — Term 2
About Course
Form 1 Mathematics — Term 2 is a structured mathematics course designed to help learners develop essential skills in Sets, Algebraic Processes and Matrices.
The course begins with Sets, where learners learn different ways of representing sets and develop an understanding of set operations including intersection, union, complement and set difference. Learners also practise representing and interpreting sets using Venn diagrams, number lines and set-builder notation, before applying set concepts to real-life problems.
The course then progresses to Algebraic Processes, where learners develop the ability to formulate, simplify and manipulate algebraic expressions. Learners will practise addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of algebraic expressions and learn how to substitute values into expressions to evaluate them.
The final topic introduces Matrices. Learners explore the order and different types of matrices, including square, zero, identity, equal and singular matrices. They will learn how to transpose, add and subtract matrices, multiply matrices by scalars, and multiply matrices up to 2 × 2. The course also introduces practical applications of matrices.
Through structured lessons, worked examples, guided practice, quizzes and assessment activities, learners will strengthen their mathematical reasoning, accuracy and problem-solving skills.
Learn the concepts. Practise the processes. Apply mathematics with confidence.
